Funny, but expected a little more
I was really looking forward to seeing White Denim live, and I love her show. She was very funny, as was Sarah Colonna. I wish she had been more spontaneous, however, I thought that her "act" was a little too rehearsed. White Denim's remarks on her show Monday night about Chicago were pretty funny, she could have used that at her live show. I wasn't disappointed, I actually thought Sarah's interaction with the audience was more personal.
There was a lot of crude language thrown in there for the sake of getting an extra laugh, and I'm no prude, obviously. I love a good curse word when it fits, but to drop an "f" bomb constantly when it seems forced didn't make the line any funnier. I'm glad I went, and would surely go again though. She did seem a little baked already and looked very sloppy. I didn't care that she took her shoes off, but did she have to wear baggy torn jeans and a sloppy shirt? Sarah looked much more professional, yet still comfortable.
The large monitor was a little distracting. I was sitting close enough to see her fairly well (main floor, 15th row), but with the monitor right behind her, it was difficult to focus on her. I kept looking at the monitor. If the theatre wants to use a monitor, that's fine, but it shouldn't be right behind her. Maybe put it left or right of the stage, or high up enough so that you aren't looking at both at once.
